This led to the establishment of the sanctuary to save the lives of the orphaned young bonobos whose mother would have killed. Once discovered, the young ones re confiscated and taken to the sanctuary. It covers 30 hectares of land and once these animals grow, they are put into groups, which can be visited by travelers.
