Your documents

The very first thing you should think about whenever you are to go for a safari in Africa are your travel documents such as; printed travel itinerary, valid passport, yellow fever (health) vaccination, Visa, IDs, travel insurance and others. Be sure to pull out your passport well in advance of your trip, and thoroughly review all the entry requirements for each country you are to visit. Your itinerary should clearly indicate the places you are to visit in that particular country you are visiting and also comprise the number of days you will spend in Africa, the DUIKER SAFARIS will help you design a fantastic and perfect itinerary for your safari if at all you contacted it in advance.

Safari Clothing

The safari clothing include all the essentials required for your body in a safari, such as; long sleeved shirts/T-shirts, comfortable hiking/walking shoes, comfortable and durable pants, light scarf, sun glasses, bathing suit, wide brim hat with chin strap, jackets and sweaters, garden gloves, shorts and trousers, and a water-proof bag for your luggage.

Enough Money

You are emphasized to plan your safari accordingly and for quite a long period of time such that you enjoy it fully. You need to travel with enough money whereby you will have the entire safari’s fees and reserve some extra cash for the extras in your safari. Some of the extras in your safari can include; paying the porters (if you are to hike a mountain), buying some drinking water, supporting the community, and many others. As a reminder, most of the African national parks are found in remote areas where the credit cards are not eligible hence you should remember to move with extra local currency (cash).

First Aid Kit

Whenever you are going for an African safari always remember that you are going in the bush – its where you will even be staying for the entire safari, thus it is a better option to move with some flexible first aid kit because you never know what will happen to your life since you will be in a new and unfamiliar society. The essentials in your first aid kit should include; some tablets, bandages, pair of scissors, razor-blades, plasters, cotton, tweezers, safety pins, disposable sterile gloves, thermometer, sticky tape, antiseptic cream, distilled water for cleaning the wounds, cough medicine, and a syringe, and all the medicines should be checked thoroughly well to make sure that they are not expired.

Insect repellents

Since you are going to be sleeping in the bushes, especially campers, expect to find a lot of dangerous insects such as mosquitoes, which spread diseases like malaria, river blindness and others. Therefore, you should care much about your life by packing some insect repellents which will simply discourage insects and send them flying or crawling away from you.

Good HD Cameras

Africa is a home to various wildlife species kept in its gazetted protected areas in abundance and with extraordinary natural beauty – picturesque landscapes!! You should therefore reserve your HD Camera together with extra-recharged batteries and binoculars available for taking as many photos as possible while in the African protected areas for a memorable safari. The most lovable wildlife species, by many travelers in Africa, include; Lions, Elephants, Buffaloes, Leopards, and Rhinos, which are mostly available in Masai Mara National Park (in Kenya) and Serengeti National Park (in Tanzania), well as the most loved primates are the mountain gorillas majorly found in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forests National Park, and the common chimpanzees found in Uganda’s Kibale Forests National Park.

Those are just some of the major essentials but it doesn’t mean that you should not pack other things of your own choice. Some of the essentials will be got from the particular country you are to visit such as the gorilla permits and chimpanzee permits in Uganda, if at all you are interested in tracking any of them.
